Our rapid automated satellite design system, MERCURY, streamlines and automates the satellite design process. MERCURY incorporates advanced digital engineering methods for both commercial and defense applications.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer. In this role, you will be designing, developing, and testing the structural assemblies and sub-assemblies for our satellites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and lead the testing for primary and secondary structural assemblies for satellites.
• Design and develop test plans for launch loads testing.
• Develop CAD models and engineering drawings, including surface finish and GD&T specifications.
• Develop hardware assembly procedures.
• Perform structural analyses such as bolted-joint calculations and finite element analyses.
• Integrate structural assemblies with other satellite subsystems in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with research engineers to drive innovation and contribute to the company's intellectual property (IP) portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Document design processes, test results, and system performance.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in spacecraft mechanical / structural engineering
• Proficiency in CAD software such as Solidworks, NX, etc.
• Experience with finite element method analysis packages such as Simcenter, Abaqus, Optistruct, etc.
• Experience specifying fastener torque values and material finishes (e.g. anodizing).
• Experience with the NASA GEVS standard.
• Experience in handling, assembling, and testing space flight hardware
• Experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings
• Experience designing and assembling structural assemblies for space applications
• Experience working with ESD protocols
• Experience working in clean room environments
