Job Description and Duties

The Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) offers legal advice to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) leadership to help ensure operations are conducted effectively and consistent with legal requirements. The Legal Support A Unit supports OLA attorneys by providing administrative support services in the areas of analytical and clerical support, legal case management support, legal research, training, and government claims.

Under direction of the Staff Services Manager I, Legal Support A Unit, the Government Claims Analyst assists OLA attorneys in the Risk Management Unit and is responsible for reviewing and processing government claims for money or damages against CDCR. The incumbent manages claim information in ProLaw and primarily works with the Department of General Services (DGS), the CDCR Accounting Office, CDCR litigation coordinators, and claimants to obtain documents, approvals, and payment information and submit payment packages.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

The Human Resources Technology System
CDCR Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. Working Conditions

This advertisement is for an Associate Governmental Program Analyst/Staff Services Analyst located at the Office of Legal Affairs in  Sacramento, Sacramento County. Please indicate the position number on your application: 065-400-5393-824.

The Office of Legal Affairs offers a secured access facility and free parking. 

This position is eligible for hybrid telework after the probation period, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. During the probationary period, the work hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. 

The Department will provide a laptop and cellphone.
